The aim of this three-module course is to help anyone who works with children and young people in education settings and other child-focused environments to improve their understanding of the definitions and signs of abuse and outlines recent changes in child protection legislation, statutory guidance, and government advice. It also serves as a refresher on responding to and reporting abuse.
The modules in this course will cover the following content:
Module one explores the varying forms and signs of child abuse and child exploitation. It also covers online abuse, child abduction and extremism and radicalisation. Interactions and reflective questions throughout aid understanding and embed learning.
Module two explores how to recognise signs of abuse and dealing with disclosures. It also outlines amendments to relevant legislation and guidance.
Module three explores several current safeguarding concerns, including children absent from education and misogyny. It also covers the importance of filtering and monitoring when it comes to e-safety. Good practice and safeguarding principles to continue to adhere to are also addressed.
A questionnaire at the end of each module will test your knowledge, and the pass mark is 70%. Upon your successful completion of Child Protection Refresher 2023 you can download a personalised certificate. The completed course equates to 3 CPD credits.
There is optional narration of the course and questionnaire for accessibility, as well as printable modules for future reference.
